A major welcoming party was held in Leidschendam, Holland for Prof. Abdirahman Baadiyow who recently launched a party in Somalia i.e. MIDNIMO Party. The party was attended by many members of the Somali community in Holland who wanted to know more about the party from the professor.
Shamso Abdulle Butukeey who spoke on behalf of the organising committee thanked the participants and she also welcomed Prof. Abdirahman Baadiyow. Prof. Omar who is one of the Somali intellects in Holland said the lack of solution in Somalia in the last 24 years can create suspicion. He said there may be a section of the Somalis who don’t want the finding of the solution for Somalia. “We are proud of Dr. Baadiyow and he is one of the handful people who can deliver Somalia. He has the right knowledge to lead us,” Prof. Omar said. Ex MP Ahmed Mohamed Samatar said Prof. Baadiyow should be supported by all the Somalis and we hope he will succeed in the coming elections in 2016. He advised the people to utilize from the development opportunities. Muhyadiin Mohamed Ahmed, one of the Somali elders in Holland spoke words of wisdom to the participants. Even though his speech was a bit having a sense of humour, he delivered the message of the importance of self reliance. Author Jawaahir Ahmed Shire recited a good poem highlighting a lot of important things.
After many important people spoke about different imperative ideas, Prof. Baadiyow who was welcomed to the podium firstly thanked all the participants for their time. He also thanked the organiser of the priceless event. He said he was delighted by the way he was welcomed. “I thank the organising committee and TAYO party members in Holland..I also say thank you to the great musician Abdi Baadil,” said Dr. Baadiyow.
He explained what went wrong in the leadership of Somalia. He said a wrong path was followed and that created animosity between the people and their government which later on led to the civil war. He added that religion was also used to oppose the government up until today when we have Al-Shabaab. Dr. Baadiyow said the intellects are responsible of the problems in Somalia. He said they failed to play their role. He said the party he leads i.e. Midnimo Party is for positive change. He added that up until 2016 his party members will work on expanding MIDNIMO Party.
Finally, Dr. Baadiyow called for the Somali people to restore the confidence that was lost in the leadership of the country.
